In augustus zijn er door een grote hoeveelheid regenwater veel dorpen in de omgeving van Suceava onder water komen te staan. Hieronder schrijft Emil Hanuseac een kort verslag (in het Engels), daaronder kunt u enkele foto's bekijken van deze grote wateroverlast:

We had a big flooding in our area. We've been through some real difficult moments during the flooding that hit our region last month. It was something terrible that words cannot describe properly. For almost a week, we couldn't see the sun at all because of the thick layer of dark clouds. Every day it rained and rained and the ground simply could not soak the water anymore. Two of the main bridges in our city had less than one meter to be covered up with water and the protecting wall got broken in several areas, the water flooding two very important commercial centers. The basement of my parents' house was also flooded more than one meter high (see the pictures). My father borrowed a high power pump to take the water out, but still he had a lot to work to clean the mud.  

Also, the waters hit many, many villages from our area killing two people and destroying hundreds of houses and many roads (see attached photos). Many families from those that you visited when you were here from Voitinel, Marginea, Siret, Salcea, Putna, Sucevita, Vicov de Sus, Maneuti were affected by the flooding. No house of them was taken away or demolished, but there were serious damages in courtyards and gardens. And it was a family who had 30 cm of water inside the house. The mud is very difficult to clear out, so they had a lot to work. Besides, the crops are totally destroyed for this year. If you could use this info for gathering some help, being it financial or material would be very useful. Any help is very welcome for all these families.
